Ebel Watches
Founded in 1911, the Ebel brand was established by Eugène and Alice Blum. The brand carries the tagline “architects of time”. True enough, the brand lives up to the famous slogan. Eugene would work on the technical side of the business, designing and making of the complicated mechanisms and Alice would focus on the design aesthetics and the finishing of the watches. It took then a year to design and manufacture an entire collection time pieces and in 1912, the first Ebel wristwatch was launched. The brand gained various award and recognitions ever since. In fact, in 1914, Ebel received during the Swiss National Exhibition a gold medal for designing patented ring watches equipped with a hidden time setting and a pallet escapement mechanism. From then on, many watch companies and clients would order Ebel watches, and the company’s growth really began.
It was in the year 1930 when Ebel became the first company to use the Western Electric precious and control testing for its manufacturing process. This ensured superb quality and finishing for all watch collections. In 1939, Ebel became the official supplier of the British Army, creating limited edition watches for the special clientele. The brand reached further heights when Pierre-Alan Blum joined the company in 1970. Wit the help of Pierre, Ebel launched its classic Sport watch collection in 1977. The perpetual calendar watch was introduced in 1983, and the famous Beluga collection was launched in 1985. The year 1993 saw the release of Sportswave; another line of classic Sport watches and in 1995, the Automatic Chronometer was added to the world renowned collection of Ebel watches.
